<<<<PRESS NOTICE>>>>
Elfyn Llwyd MP
invites MPs & public to a meeting of the
ALL PARTY PARLIAMENTARY GROUP
on ENDING AND PREVENTING WAR*
at 12.00 on Tuesday 12th January
in the Boothroyd Room, Portcullis House
Upholding the laws of war
The purpose of this meeting is to agree the strategy that the APPG will pursue within Parliament, Political Parties and Government to ensure that war law is known, understood, upheld and enforced.
We will outline the Parliamentary structures, services and procedures available to MPs, Peers and the Public to enable Parliament to force the Government to obey the laws of war.
There will also be an opportunity for members of the public to inform the APPG of the issues relating to war that you want them to take up with Government or Parliament on your behalf.
This APPG will be different. It aims to provide a channel for the public to express their concerns [relating to war and the use of armed force] directly to MPs and Peers so that they can hold our political, civil and military leaders to account for their violations of treaties and breaches of war law. The meeting will provide the first of many opportunities to raise the issues that concern you most with the APPG so that it can use the systems and services of Parliament on your behalf to cross-examine and hold to account relevant Ministers, civil servants and Departments of State. So please come to this meeting prepared to raise the issue(s) of most importance to you.
* the APPG is yet to be formally launched
